How to Remove Stretch Marks - What You Should Know About Treatments

If you are one of those people trying to figure out how to remove stretch marks, here are some tips for you. The fact is, there is no one stretch mark treatment that is perfect for all people. You may have a friend that swears by a certain stretch mark cream but when you tried it didn't do a thing for you. Take a look at the most common solutions and discover what you should know about each of them.

When we gain weight, especially the weight fast as in a pregnancy, Osteo biflex our skin doesn't have time to adjust to the growth. The result is it gets stretch beyond its capacity and it tears.

The tearing occurs underneath the skin's surface which is why the best choice to get rid of stretch marks, in fact the only known way that is foolproof solution is surgery.

A process called abdominoplasty, known fondly as a tummy tuck, is the top choice to remove stretch marks. The surgeon makes and incision below the belly button and pulls the skin back into its smooth, scar less state.

This surgery works well but as you can imagine, it is extremely expensive and since it's not considered necessary, most health plans won't cover the cost. The alternative?... Lasers.

Laser surgery is becoming increasingly popular for cosmetic surgery. If you have new stretch marks: the reddish, purple ones, pulsed dye laser treatment may be the answer for you. However, once the scars have matured into the white colored scars, lasers won't work... until recently.

There is a new type of laser treatment called Xtrac laser and ReLume light source. This treatment has worked very well with older scars by stimulating the pigment-producing cells of the skin to make melanin. What this does is darken the white scars to match the surrounding skin color making the scars less noticeable. This is pretty much the idea behind the over the counter treatments.

Over the counter stretch mark creams will never replace your scarred skin but what they do is make the skin softer, more elastic and make the lines diminish. Products that include vitamin e seem to be the most effective so keep an eye on the ingredients list for that. Another ingredient that has a huge following is Emu oil. This oil comes from the fat as a food by-product of the emu bird. If you're against using animal products, stick with the vitamin e.

Sticking with the over the counter treatments is important too. You won't see results over night. But by spending 5 minutes a day with these treatments you give your skin a chance to heal and look it's best leaving your friends to ask you "how to remove stretch marks".
